Inviting Lunch at the Boschendal Deli

fullsizeoutput_3ec4When you take the gorgeous Helshoogte Road from Stellenbosch to Franschoek you will find a gem in the Drakenstein Valley. Surrounded by dramatic mountainous back drops you will find the Boschendal Wine Farm tucked away in all the splendour.

The Boschendal Wine Farm dates back to 1685, with a rich history that you can have a look at on their website or take a tour on the estate.

Boschendal is one of those estates that will offer you anything and everything you can wish for on a wine farm, including several venues, restaurants, gardens, historic buildings and accommodation. You will not get to everything in one day, so you will simply need to return for another vist.

Today I am at Boschendal for a peaceful lunch at the Boschendal Deli.

The Deli is situated in the renovated wagon house of the estate. The Deli provides snug inside seating or spacious outside seating under the lush oak trees with some feathered friends walking around.

The menu at the Deli is very generous and there will be something to please everyone. The Deli also caters to the needs of the little ones which makes this the perfect family outing.

What makes it even more special is the fact that a large amount of the produce used by the restaurants on Boschendal is grown and harvested on the farm. When you are here you will clearly see that Boschendal is environmentally conscious and they invest in local and seasonal produce.

For lunch I had the Cheese burger served with the best fries I have had in quite some time and the granadilla cordial.
No visit would be complete without coffee…

The food was delicious. The staff were so friendly and the service was great.
To just make the experience more well rounded was the tranquil atmosphere under the oak trees and hearing the birds around you.

After lunch I had a stroll in the stunning sustainable gardens and admired the effort that the estate invests in these magnificent areas. This is well worth the walk.

In the garden there is also stunning water features that adds to the tranquility the garden creates.

When visiting Boschendal, what you are looking for is a well rounded experience and luxurious views. This estate is truly magnificent and should be enjoyed with family and friends.

In the summer months you can also purchase a picnic basket and have a picnic on the vast lawns of the estate.

I will definitely be back for more.
